Who we are
Our organization began its adoption service in April 2004. It has expanded since then to include several humanitarian and development activities. In Ethiopia, there are nearly 4.5 million orphans that need help(CSA). We are involved in humanitarian aid because we believe humanitarian aid within the country is the best way to help these children and bring about sustainable change to their poor families.

CHSFS-Ethiopia believes that adoption in general and inter-country adoption in particular, is the last resort.  It is not the best solution. We believe that it is only when children can not be able to survive and grow well if they stay with their birth parents or relatives that they should be adopted.

In all the services we provide, our aim is to introduce cutting edge practices and contribute new experiences. Within a short period of time, our organization has become a model, exemplary organization. This has been recognized by different government authorities.

Some of our acheivements so far

  • Since April 2004, we have placed over 600 Ethiopian children with American families. The number of children adopted in July 2008 is 136.
  • CHSFS- Ethiopia has provided access to education to over 300 rural children of poor families.
  • It has constructed a water project in Ottoro with a view to providing clean potable water to the rural poor.
  • It has trained nearly 70 primary health care workers in its Primary Health Care Workers Training Center. Thirty three students have already been employed by the organization itself.
  • It has created job opportunities to over 300 people. The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) center our organization recently opened has created job opportunities for several people.

Where we are going
CHSFS-Ethiopia is in the process of acquiring 5 hectares (12.35 acres) of land from the Addis Ababa City Government to construct a multi purpose building and further expand our services. The building will include

  • Foster care center
  • Birth mother's place
  • Nursing college
  • Pediatric emergency clinic
  • Primary school
  • Guest house
  • The main office of CHSFS-Ethiopia

We plan to begin the construction of the milti purpose building as soon as the land is granted. We hope that all who visit this website, will help us realize our dream of helping abandoned, orphaned and vulnerable children and their needy families by providing moral, financial and technical support.

According to our vision, within three years several thousands of people are believed to be directly and indirectly benefited from the different humanitarian and development activities that are to be carried out by CHSFS-Ethiopia.

Families, who come to adopt our children, are our ambassadors. They witness what has been done by CHSFS-Ethiopia. And we believe they are promoting and introducing our organization and its worth-while efforts to the world. We also hope that they will continue providing the much-needed financial and technical support to put our plans on the ground.

Contributions made by each one of you can make a difference in the lives of many children and their families. It doesn’t matter how big or small your contribution is. As part of the contributions made by hundreds and thousands of other people, your contribution can change the lives of many needy families for the better.
