Primary Health Care Workers Training Center
CHSFS Ethiopia has so far created job opportunities for over 200 people.
The Primary Health Care Training Center in Addis Ababa has been providing trainings and has graduated several youth since 2005. The center trains basic health care providers with a special emphasis on community foster care, day care and home based services.
The training center provides a one year certificate program. It gives priority to unemployed youth especially women who are under privileged in Ethiopia. Ninety percent of the first graduates have been employed by the organization as nannies and social workers. The center will be upgraded to Nursing College in the year 2008.
The objective of the program is to:
- Train efficient basic health care givers
- Create job opportunities for youth especially females from the lower socio-economic class
Candidates need to fulfill minimum requirements of the training center to join the program.
The training center, in its program, gives eleven courses where each course has its own set of objectives.
- Nursing ethics
- Spoken English
- Introductory basic anatomy and physiology
- Food and Nutrition
- First aid
- Personal and environmental hygiene
- communicable diseases and Infection control
- Geriatric care
- Care of the disabled
- HIV-AIDS and Home based care
