Message for adoptive families

CHSFS is helping children of impoverished families, who are abandoned or vulnerable in Ethiopia. It is making a real difference in the lives of hundreds of children and families. It is a great pleasure to work for such an organization as a Country Representative.

As a parent myself, I know that no family would want to part from their own flesh and blood unless circumstances make it absolutely necessary. I do understand that the transition time will be a tough and challenging one for both adopted children and their new parents. 

I believe the excellent care that we give at our foster care center in Addis Ababa helps the children to quickly adjust to their new homes and surrounding. CHSFS-Ethiopia has a vision of providing the best possible care for the children. We have two doctors, 10 nurses and 80 trained nannies.

Except for a brief interview at the US embassy in Addis Ababa, families are not expected to involve in the adoption process. CHSFS-Ethiopia handles all the process of adoption on behalf of adoptive parents.

I am also pleased to inform adoptive parents that they will have two documentaries on DVD. One on the background of their adopted child/ren and the other on their child/ren’s stay at our care center in Addis Ababa. The idea of producing documentaries for each adopted child was first initiated by the first Country Representative Asnake Amanuel. We will also give families a lifebook in print with all the contents the two documentaries have. I would like to thank you for becoming interested in the Ethiopia program.
