History
CHSFS was formed in July 2003 through the merger of the two organizations: Children's Home Society of Minnesota and Family Service, Inc.

Children's Home Society of Minnesota (CHSM) was founded in 1889 in the United States as part of a nationwide initiative to find loving homes for orphaned children; as well as providing quality social services for children and families. In the past three decades, CHSM has developed a continuum of care to help children of all ages with a broad spectrum of needs. CHSM concentrates on three core service areas: Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention, Early Childhood Education and Adoption.

Established in the United States in 1892, Family Service, Inc. is a social service agency dedicated to providing professional services that strengthen families and individuals in St. Paul and the surrounding metro area. Family Service provides a variety of services to all ages and abilities. The programs include financial and home ownership counseling, services to seniors, education and support groups, community programs for youth, individual, couple, and family counseling, and learning disabilities consultation.
